Apologetics is the discipline of defense. Christian apologetics then deals with the defense of the Christian faith. To a lot of people that probably sounds like “heady” stuff. It both is and does not have to be.

 For the pastor, scholar, theologian or Christian counselor, apologetics must be a deep and on-going intellectual process that informs their responsibilities as shepherd/leaders. On the other hand, for lay people, defending the faith is just as vital. As a matter of fact, they are the ones on the every day front lines.

 Here is the important take-away. The lay person may not be a theologian but his or her responsibility for the reputation of their Lord is not lessened. Intelligent apologetics is still demanded, even if in a different setting on a different level.

 What follows is the beginning of an offering of tools for the purpose of doing an achievable defense of the faith.
