Bible interpretation is one of the most contentious areas of theology.  The various schools of Christian thought have been in existence for centuries, a few of them as far back as the second and third centuries AD.

There are and have been hundreds of approaches to understanding the Bible.  For the most part, they can be very broadly classified as allegorical, literal grammatical-historical, rational (contemporary theories) or some attempted blend of these.

This site makes no apology for offering helps in line with the literal grammatical-historical hermeneutic.  My reasoning is simple.  If  God has communicated to mankind in the form of the written word, He has done so in order to be understood by anyone who is committed to Him.  If that is true, God uses the vehicle of human language in its normal routine way.  Of all the general approaches to interpretation, only the literal (properly understood) grammatical-historical method stays true to an obvious understanding of written language.
