1610 The Middle East is in America
Foreign policy rarely interests the public en masse unless we are dealing with war or catastrophe. But that world stage is changing wildly. It is crucial that the American people care beyond what sells stories in whatever form they are disseminated. The influence of the Arab world on American foreign and domestic policy is far more significant than most people realize.
Two of the most unseen but most influential organizations are The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Muslim Brotherhood (MB).
The OIC, formally the Organization of the Islamic Conference, is the largest international political body in the world second only to the United Nations. Yet few people outside of Washington D.C. have heard of it, let alone understand its successful interjection of into American politics through foreign initiatives. It is one of those camel’s-nose-under-the-tent decades-old stories.
The OIC was founded under the leadership of King Faisal of Saudi Arabia in 1969. Its present charter, adopted in 2008, speaks glowingly of peace, tolerance, justice, equality and human dignity. As with all things political, the devil is in the details. It’s website currently lists 57 members, at least half of whose governments operate in full or in part, directly or indirectly under Islamic (Sharia) law. That detail alone should make one realize that member states such as Iran, Turkey, Sudan, Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia seem perfectly free to define those terms for the OIC in a distinctly “Shari’ah-esque” way.
The OIC’s Cairo Declaration on Human Rights of 1990 is far more telling. Almost every provision of the document is offered in submission to Sharia law. It declares all human beings to be “God’s subjects”. Article 22 prohibits the “arous[al] of nationalistic or doctrinal hatred” and Article 24 stipulates that all rights are “subject to Shari’ah”.
The Muslim Brotherhood (MB) is much older than the OIC and has focused its mission on weaving itself into United States domestic affairs. It was established in 1928 by a group led by Hassan al-Banna four years after the official end of the last Caliphate by Kemal Atarurk. MB established its first foothold in the U.S. in 1964 by forming the Muslim Students Association (MSA) on the Urbana-Champagne campus of the University of Illinois. Its own documents reveal that the MSA was designed and still serves as the Brotherhood’s main recruitment and screening tool. By 1991, the Brothers could claim 29 satellite organizations involved in almost every facet of U.S. political, cultural and religious life.
On the surface, MB’s activities could be justified as simply a selfless religious organization promoting religious beliefs and solidarity. The problem is that, according to its own “Explanatory Memorandum on the General Strategic Goal for the Group in North America”, that is simply not the case. The Brotherhood, through its many front organizations such as the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), is devoted to what it calls “civilization Jihad”. Its motto is “Allah is our objective. The Prophet is our leader. The Qur’an is our law. Jihad is our way. Dying in the way of Allah is our highest aspiration”.
In spite of reams of well documented additional evidence, including the massively important exposure of MB from the 2008 federal Holy Land Trial, these two organizations have been geniuses at information dominance as well as a masterful cultural/political stealth (taqiyya – legal, sometimes required deception). Those abilities, along with a deep commitment to civilization Jihad, have yielded them powerful influences – the OIC within the United Nations and the Muslim Brotherhood within our own nation.
The Middle East is not “over there” anymore, it is in America. After the 9/11 attack on the United States’ mainland, President Bush inadvertently began the acceleration of the insurgence of the OIC and the Brotherhood into America by seeking input from their emissaries. The positioning of both organizations had been creeping beneath the surface since the Brotherhood’s first Oval Office visit with President Dwight D. Eisenhower. By the time of the Clinton Administration, a Brother, Abdurahman Alamoudi, had ascended to the position of adviser to President Clinton and then to the First lady.
Currently, under the Obama Administration, the easternization of America has accelerated at a stunning pace. CAIR has achieved the façade of moderation. In the last seven years, at least seven significant administration posts have been occupied by men and women with deep and simultaneous ties to CAIR, ISNA, MAS (Muslim American Society), MPAC (Muslim Public Affairs Council) and the MSA – all organizations aligned with radical Islamic ideology.
As Secretary of State, our own Hillary Clinton joined with the OIC to first promote then represent the U.S. at the United Nations’ Human Rights Council’s passage of Resolution 16/18. 16/18 attempts to criminalize criticism or “defamation” of Islam through any venue for any reason. Clinton personally presided over what has become known as the “Istanbul Process” to implement 16/18 worldwide to include our own nation.
America cannot continue on the path of coddling Middle Eastern sensitivities or radical Islamic ideology within the highest levels of her political processes or her sacred values. America achieved her greatness by tenaciously hanging on to who she uniquely is. Now, in our present dangerous world, is not the time to play with fire.
